Welcome

For as long as I can remember I've always been artistic. It wasn't until my first success at combining glass with ceramics however, that I was ready to claim the title of "Artist" as my own. I can still remember the moment when the switch was thrown and I knew I couldn't go back to just being "artistic." Perfecting this new art form of merging glass with clay, in spite of not having mentors to assist in the learning curve, is also how I found my own voice as a sculptor. This challenge proved to be a blessing in the end. Both my skill and a spiritual dimension to my body of work developed together.

It was a 5 year journey of discovering how I could adapt the "lost wax" method of mold making for sculpting in bronze to sculpting in glass, and how to also control the precision required for the Raku-fired clay and cast-glass to join together with esthetic success.

When I was finally ready for a full scale 22 piece exhibition, With the Flow, debuted the merging of glass and clay with a body of work that embraced our natural world and our relationship to constant changes. Each sculpture, in the end, has transcended my own artistic vision and has taken on an energetic vibration that is all its own.

I feel most successful when creatively connected to this "kindred" world which lies just out of sight but not out of mind; a spiritual connection that comes to life through my art-making. It's through this focus that pieces emerge which speak to our humanity, which prompts our hearts to smile, and also reminds us to think with more compassion.

Gentle to the eyes and graceful in shape and color, I feel great joy drawing attention to harmony found in life ... imperfections and all.
